Aside from the album they released this year, The National scoring a place on the Game Of Thrones inspired soundtrack this year was a bonus. This song is suitably moody and atmospheric to match the show which inspired it, and The National are a great fit, despite this having something of a darker sound than their work usually does. Matt's voice is well suited to a song of this nature and he's easily able to do this justice. The lyrics are quite interesting, without discussing the show too much, this song feels to me like it's about Tyrion Lannister; I can imagine him saying some of these lines. I love that The National were involved in this project and they've done an impressive job. |
