I usually don't take this long to review songs after hearing them, and this one has been about 8 months in the making, so hopefully it's a good one.<br><br>When I went on a trip overseas in January this year, the in-flight entertainment offered a series of options in games, TV, movies, and, of course, music, in which I mostly gravitated towards the music.<br><br>The options provided a good variety of albums, in which I mostly stuck to the recent stuff I loved (mainly Lorde's "Pure Heroine", Arctic Monkeys' "AM", Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories" and Asgeir's "In The Silence"), but for some reason, I wasn't able to scroll over Charli XCX's "Sucker" without being intrigued about the contents inside. I knew of "Boom Clap" and "Break The Rules" at this point in time, but the rest was largely unknown to me (other than disliking her featuring vocals in "Fancy" and "I Love It").<br><br>I didn't end up listening to the entire album, but this is just one song that I had so much fun with. This is strange to me, because I usually don't enjoy this type of music, so the reality that I happened to enjoy 2 of Charli's juvenile, fun party songs felt odd.<br><br>I think that might be because I can believe Charli in this role of fun, bratty, party girl, and can enjoy it when you put it together with loud, upbeat music such as this, rather than dull music of "Fancy" or the migraine-inducing music of "I Love It".<br><br>Or then again, maybe the reason I like this is that I associate this song (as well as "Break The Rules" now) with the international holiday I was about to go on, rather than judging the song on its own merits.<br><br>Since then, whenever I've heard this, I think of that holiday, meaning that I'll probably always like this, even if I wouldn't think of it as a good song from a musical perspective.<br><br>It is for reasons like this that I can't really judge people for their tastes in music too harshly, as often, it is the memories that people associate with a song that makes them like or dislike it, rather than the song itself, and I can respect that.<br><br>Oh, and I just saw the music video for this for the first time about 20 minutes ago, and what on earth was that? I'm honestly not even sure if that is the best or worst video I've ever watched. I get the message of it though, and I do appreciate the WTFness about it.
